The sun hits the jarrah trees early, turning every leaf into dusty, flickering silver. You wake up to the smell of damp earth and wood smoke. Our 3-bedroom accommodation in Margaret River sits right in the thick of the scrub. Kangaroos hop past your bedroom window while the kettle starts to boil. The air feels sharp and clean against your skin. You do not need a clock. The kookaburras handle the wake-up call at dawn with their loud laughter. You notice the light filters through the fly screens, creating moving patterns on the timber floor, while the shadows dance as the morning breeze moves the trees. You feel calm.
Morning Mist and Red Earth
The sound of the bushes:
Black cockatoos screech from high branches. Their cries echo across the valley. You sit on the timber steps and watch the light change from grey to gold. The forest lives and breathes with a laid-back rhythm. It feels as if the entire world slowed down just for you. Dry leaves rustle in the undergrowth. You hear the rustle of wings in the canopy.
Coffee on the deck:
The very first sip of coffee actually wakes you up while you are still in your pyjamas. You hold the mug tight because the air still has that early morning bite. In Margaret River, you do not really see the neighbours; they are tucked away well behind the thick scrub. The orange light finally hits the deck and starts to warm up the old wooden railings. That wood feels rough and weathered under your fingers. And you can smell the crushed leaves and wild herbs in the breeze. It is the kind of quiet that actually lets you think for once.
Finding Space in the Vines
Room for the whole tribe:
Families need plenty of space to breathe. Our 3-bedroom accommodation offers that kind of freedom. You will find big beds with crisp white sheets. Children can claim their corners of the house. No one trips over suitcases in the wide hallway. The walls hold the loud laughter of a long dinner. You feel the solid weight of the timber floors. Each room has a window to the green world. You do not feel trapped behind glass. The air flows through the house.
The kitchen heart:
Large tables invite long talks over local cheese. You chop vegetables while looking out at the scrub. The oven stays busy with sourdough bread or roasting meat. Every utensil has its place in the wide drawers of our 3-bedroom vacation home. You pour a glass of wine. The wine tastes of dark plums and soil. You share stories while the plates clatter. The sink overlooks a patch of flowering banksia.
Beyond the Veranda
The surf thumps away a few kilometres to the west. You usually catch that hit of salt the second the wind shifts. You will see surfers heading down to the cold breaks at Prevelly, but maybe you would rather stay in the shade of the big karri trees. Your boots will definitely be dusty by the time you get back. Our 3-bedroom accommodation is really just a quiet spot to land at the end of the day.
You get a hot shower and a couch that you can actually sink into. Once the fire gets going, you can look up and see the stars properly. The Milky Way looks like someone spilt salt across a dark table. It gets properly quiet in Margaret River at night. No cars, no sirens—just a deep silence in the bushes. You pull up the quilt and just listen. Tomorrow is just more red dirt and blue water. You will probably be asleep before your head even hits the pillow.
