113 Yates Road, Margaret River

Western Australia 6285

You know the look—the one they give you when the suitcases come out. It is that tragic, wide-eyed stare that says, “I know what those zippers mean, and I resent it.”

Leaving a dog in a kennel is a heartbreak that every cynophile is familiar with. It smells like bleach and desperation. You spend your entire trip wondering if your four-legged friend is eating or has decided to go on a hunger strike until you return. It ruins the wine. It spoils the beach.

So, do not do it. We manage a pet-friendly accommodation in Margaret River where you can bring your dog.

Our beloved Margaret River is not only for humans who want to swirl Chardonnay and pretend they can taste notes of gooseberry. It is a sheer sensory overload for dogs. The forest smells ancient and complex—wet eucalyptus, salt spray, decaying leaves, and the terrifying, electric scent of kangaroos.

The Pet-Friendly Lie

We need to understand the underlying meaning of being pet-friendly in the hospitality industry. And it usually means leaving your dog in a rusted cage near the bin. Or they let you bring the dog, but the room smells like wet carpet and sadness, and you are terrified to touch anything because it feels sticky.

That is not a holiday. That is containment.

We do it differently at our pet-friendly accommodation. We understand that if you are bringing your dog, you actually crave the company of your canine companion. And you want them to be with you when coming to Margaret River. You do not want them to be stored away like luggage. And it is the bushes that encompass our chalets. Ours is the kind of place where you can sit on the deck with a coffee in the morning, and your dog can sit next to you, nose twitching at the wind.

Timber Floors and Dirty Paws

Carpets in any rental accommodation are an epic mistake. They hide sins but remember everything. That is why we use jarrah timber floors. It is a detail that matters.

When you come back from Gnarabup beach, sandy and exhausted, you do not want to panic about ruining a pristine white rug. You want floors that can bear a bit of nature. Wood feels cleaner. It sounds a lot better. And the click-clack of claws on timber is the soundtrack of a dog that is allowed to be inside.

The Deck Situation

Our private decks are legitimate. They are not those tiny, sad balconies where your knees hit the railing. Ours are spaces for living. You can fire up the gas barbeque, uncork a bottle of local red, and throw a ball into the shadows for the dog.

It is super quiet at Acacia Chalets—not the fake quiet of a hotel room with soundproofing, but the heavy, living silence of the quintessentially Australian bush. You hear the wind in the peppermint trees. You hear the ocean in the distance. You do not hear the sound of your neighbours. And you do not hear traffic.

Just Go

Stop justifying the kennel cost. Do not convince yourself that your dog will love being in one while you are away. Nope! They will not like it. Let your dog sniff a tree while you eat cheese.

Pack your bed. And keep driving until you reach our pet-friendly accommodation in Margaret River.
